It cleans, and the grain clears.

Plant derived cleansers clean the skin without stripping it, and a fine cypress grain works through the lather. The cypress note is there while the water runs, then it all rinses clean and leaves a light trace of moisture.

What it does
  • Cleans without stripping.

Pure plant derived cleansers lift the day off the skin and rinse clean. The formula is 91% naturally derived, it reads as low irritation across five skin types, and the moisture your skin needs stays.

  • A fine cypress grain.

Ground cypress runs through the lather and clears away dead skin and excess oil. It is fine enough for daily use and rolls softly across the skin.

  • The scent of the forest.

The cypress note is there while the water runs, from the water and the oil. It sits close to the skin, and it does not fill the room.

Ingredients

Jeju Hinoki Cypress water.

Branches pruned from roughly thirty year old cypress trees in Ara-dong, Jeju, steam-distilled for two hours with the Jeju Resource Plant Research Institute. What remains after distillation is composted and returned to the forest. In this bottle, that water comes first: it is the first ingredient in the formula.

Pruned Jeju Hinoki Cypress branches
Hinoki Cypress oil

The only added scent, from the same two-hour distillation.

Fine cypress grain

Finely ground cypress, the texture you feel in the lather.

Tangerine peel extract

One of three botanical extracts in the formula.

Centella asiatica extract

The botanical better known as cica.

Jeju dwarf bamboo extract

Sasa quelpaertensis, gathered on Jeju.

    Frequently asked questions

Is it gentle enough for daily use?

Yes. It tested non irritating on 32 people across five skin types, and the fine grain is soft enough to use every day.

    Does it foam without sulfates?

Yes. The plant derived cleansers build a dense lather, and it rinses clean without stripping the skin.

Why does the color change over time?

The plant ingredients can shift the color as the bottle ages. It is a property of the formula, not a sign it has gone off, and it does not change how the wash works.

    Does the scent stay?

The cypress note is there while you wash, from the water and the oil. It settles once you rinse, and it does not fill the room.

How long does a bottle last?

30 months unopened, and 12 months after opening.

    Which refill fits?

The 30.4 fl oz (900 mL) pouch refills the 450 mL bottle twice. Pouring takes about a minute; see Refill & reuse.
